Transfer Ownership 🤝🏻

If you want to hand over responsibility (including billing) for a Gumb community to someone else, you can transfer ownership - without losing any data.



Before you start
  • Each community has exactly 1 Owner.
  • Ownership transfer is linked to an active subscription on the new Owner’s account.
  • Best practice: start the transfer a few days before the current subscription renews to avoid double charges.


Step-by-step

1) New Owner - subscribe in their own account

The new Owner must subscribe from their own Gumb account:

  • Open the Web App (browser)
  • Log in with the email address that should become the new Owner
  • Go to Profile - Subscription
  • Choose a plan and complete checkout

Tip: Pick the same plan type as before to keep everything seamless.


2) We (Gumb) - transfer ownership

As soon as the new subscription shows as active in our system, we transfer ownership:

  • from the current Owner account
  • to the new Owner account

No data is lost (community, members, events, chats, content stay as-is).


3) Current Owner - cancel your subscription to stop renewal

To prevent the current subscription from renewing:

Note: This stops renewal on the current Owner’s account. Your community data remains intact.



Final step - message support

Once the new Owner has subscribed, send a short note to support@gumb.app with:

  • Current Owner email
  • New Owner email

We’ll complete the transfer right away.




FAQ

Will we lose any data?

No. The ownership change does not delete or reset community data.


Can someone become Owner without subscribing?

No. The new Owner needs an active subscription so we can link ownership + billing to the correct account.


Why does the current Owner need to cancel?

To avoid an automatic renewal and potential double charge.


What if we miss the renewal date?

If a renewal already happened, email support@gumb.app immediately. We’ll help you sort out the clean transfer.
